This winter, join Harewood for a truly spectacular Victorian Christmas in the house.
For the first time in 5 years, Harewood House and grounds will open for a special Christmas season. You will be able to explore state rooms and kitchens in the house which will be dressed by Michael Howells, award winning Set Designer from ITV’s Victoria series, which used Harewood House as a major location.
Discover how the Victorians shaped the Christmas traditions which we know and love today including Christmas Dinner, Boxing Day, Christmas carols and present giving. See the house come to life with beautiful decorations which will transport you back in time to the Victorian Christmases of Harewood’s past.
In the state rooms, Michael’s designs will bring a feeling of celebration to the house with lavish Christmas dinners, present giving and trees filling the opulent rooms. Display highlights will include loans from Ilkley Toy Museum including Victorian board games, dolls houses, toy soldiers and rare dolls from the era.
Below stairs in the kitchens, you will be welcomed into the hustle and bustle of life as a servant, as the house prepares the Christmas food. Enjoy the sights and smells of the busy country house kitchens, cooking for this beautiful, festive time of year.
Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity of exploring the award-winning gardens, which are usually closed throughout the winter months.
Please note, the house and grounds are closed on 24th, 25th and 26th December. Last entry times vary in accordance with dusk.
